4 Ways To Boost Your Productivity!
Ever feel like you spend a lot of time on a task but don't really get anything done? You're not alone! Lets cover ways to boost your productivity and get more out of your day!
“Direction is more important than Action.”
Make Your HEALTH a PRIORITY!
Think of your body like a race car if you want to get from A to B and win that race you must ensure that it is functioning optimally. Making sure it is serviced, fine tuned and is kept in top condition and ready for the race.
Most people treat their vehicle (themselves) like trash. Eat crap, never exercise and have limited sleep. If you are running on empty all the time and your physically getting sick often you will struggle to be productive at all and most importantly you will never be effective in your day to day life.
When you FEEL good you DO good so make health a priority.
Plan your day before you start your day!
As the famous Jim Rohn said:
“Plan your day before you start your day, plan your week before you start your week, plan your month before you start your month and plan your year before you start your year.”
This concept of planing is a sure way to make sure that the time you spend on the tasks in the future are going to move you towards your goal rather than take you away from your goal.
Most people move forward and take massive action with no direction to what or why they should be doing it.
Take the time the night before or week before to map out and prioritise what is revenue generating for your business and what is not. Spend 80% of your time on revenue generating activities.
"When you fail to plan you plan to fail."
Learn to delegate and eliminate
Be focused on what your strengths are and eliminate or delegate activities that do not serve you. For example I personally never clean the house and rarely cook any food. Now this isn’t due to me not liking to cook or clean…well maybe don't like it that much. However I know that I spend too much time during the week with this activity so I make sure I delegate it so I can spend my time more productively.
Prioritise those activities you set above in your plan into your day using ABCD method
- A- MUST DO (Top priority activities)
- B- SHOULD DO (Important also but not essential)
- C- WOULD LIKE TO DO (Recreational activities)
- D- DELEGATE (Delegate your activity)
- E- ELIMINATE (Remove activities that don’t serve you)
Eliminate Excessive Options
Great power in being boring, when you look at people like Steve jobs, Anthony Robbins etc all of them have the same wardrobe. Wear the same thing each day.
Have their meals similar all the time this eliminates time spent on task that will not serve you. Delegate and remove distractions where possible.
When you make several mental choices is depletes your mental energy so focusing on what is important over interesting will allow you to be more mentally focused on what is important. Routine aspects of your life that are mundane. In short make fewer decisions. This comes into play with your clothing your diet and your exercise.
Most people focus on protecting and valuing their time, but the true key to boosting your productivity is valuing your ENERGY! By eliminating excessive options you remove thinking about mundane tasks that don’t truly serve you and will allow you to focus your energy on what is important.
You can be an expert in one thing or a generalist at nothing. Successful people double down on their strengths so it is important that you are laser focused on one task at a time and don’t multi-task.
Problem is that you think you’re doing more but your actually not…..
Think of your day like a pie chart, the % of time you're spending on one task will eat into the % of time you're spending on the other task.
So instead of doing one task 100% you're now doing four activities all at 25%… not really being more productive at all.
You will end up feeling more stressed and that time is passing by super fast because you're continually getting distracted.
